797 SI lost hi res after update
« on: March 31, 2010, 07:45:24 PM »
I did the update to the DI. Yes I reset my defaults to original settings.  I took the boat out and was very let down.  The DI worked fine, really liked it.

Problem>  It took all the resilution away for the SI.  It will hardly show the shore line and what  pixels that are marking something are now huge Looks like large rectangles.  I would rather have my SI back than the DI.   Help me Is there a software that will give me color change without the DI.  Or do you have any other  suggestions?  Please help .

Eric,

Can you post us a snapshot of the SI screen if you have one?  If you have any old recordings, play them back and see if it does the same thing and take a snapshot for us to see.

Also, check your settings and let us know what they are.

Worst case scenario is to re-install previous update, then install the new one again.

A picture is worth a thousand words!

Hello,

I’ve had my 797c2 si for over 2 years now, I to just updated the software (V4.770) on my 797 last week when I first turned the unit on the si was very dark couldn’t see anything but after adjusting the color and sensitivity both Si and Di are very clear and sharp, the only thing now is I lose bottom at about 6 feet or less with the sonar and it goes nuts flashing 300 to 400 feet and the sonar image is all jagged, when I get back into deeper water I half to power off and on to clear it.
I think the software may a few bugs yet.

For the dark Si sonar try downloading and install an older version software update to your unit than download an new copy of the current Si software and re-install it in your unit.

For the 2D sonar jumping around in shallow water try setting the Water Type menu to the Salt (deep) setting and increase the Surface Clutter menu setting.
