Unit not working over 130 feet of water
« on: May 06, 2015, 09:25:11 AM »
Morning Guys, another question  that you may know the answer. I was using my 899 ci HD Si to jig lake trout the other night. It was tracking my jig ok , but once I go over  131 feet of water it pretty much cuts off. It flickers to 10 feet of water on screen or just goes blank. I have the max depth on auto, is there some other setting I should have it on cause its not making sense why it would do this. Thanks

*Max Depth should always be set to about 20ft below any depth you may encounter ...this will allow the unit to operate more efficiently without going into "Bottom Search" mode when it has difficulty locating bottom ...

*Beam Select on 200kHz only will allow more repetitive pings to look for bottom ...(any 83kHz setting makes the transmitter alternate frequency ping between 200kHz and 83kHz) ...

*(Optional) Changing the "Transducer Select" menu to Dual Beam will shut off the SI transmitter ...allowing more pings from the 2d transmitter ...

And it could be just Enviromental variables causing loss of bottom ... Soft bottom not reflecting enough of the sound pulse at those depths ...
