Title: Powering on/off
Post by: Jason on March 11, 2012, 10:43:23 PM
While trying to use my unit, it is constantly powering itself off and then back on again.  I also sometimes have trouble powering the unit off.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Hi Jason :)

Which software version do you use?

Jason

Does the unit power on and off while sitting still or just when you are driving your boat?

Have you check all of your connections too mke sure they are tight?

You might to trace all of your connections and check the pins on the power connection.

Check your fuse to make sure it is good and has a tight connection

Sounds like software if it is restarting or over voltage.

My power key was stuck once.
It had some debris in it.
I took a plastic tooth pick and I stuck it in there and went around in a circle and got
out the debris.
I wouldn't use a wooden tooth pick, because it might break off and give you problems.

Also, when I power on or off my machine, I keep the key pressed for at least 2 seconds

Good luck.

Thank y'all for the responses.  Rudiger--I have the 5.??version software.  It is the software that came with the unit.
George--the unit powers on and off while riding and while stopped.  I did check that all of the connections were tight and all of the pins.  I didn't check the fuse though,  I will check as soon as I get home.
Roddy--I have had the unit for a year now, and this has just recently become a problem.  Do you think it may still be an over voltage?  And how do I determine this?
Itgeek--I will also check that there is no debris in the power button.
Thank you all aging for all of the quick responses!

Can you show the voltage reading on your screen.

I had a problem with my unit shutting down, and after a bit I finally put voltage on my screen and found that my battery was too small, after I replaced it and the problem went away.  My issue was low voltage and after fishing and watching it for a bit the voltage went to 9.9 volts then such down.

George, i checked voltage and It seems that I have enough voltage as I have 12.9v.  i have recently upgraded all of my batteries on my boat.(starting and t/m batteries)thought maybe after a days fishing I may have this problem, but this is happening in the morning when my batteries are fully charged.  I went back over everything that was mentioned here and everything checked out ok, but I was still having the same problem.  So I decided I would change all of my connections even though they looked fine and I think that might have taken care of my problem.  I would like to thank all of you for your suggestions and input, and for helping me figure out my problem.  You guys are first class, thanks for taking the time to help! ;D

Is there anyone in your area that you can set up your unit in place of theirs?  If it is a wiring issue then it should ok.
