Topic: First trip on the water

I got to get out on the lake today.  I have to admit, I was pretty prepared for all kinds of issues after my installation instruction issues, and some of the things I've read here, but all I can say is WOW!    I was amazed at how well everything worked.  I didn't have any loss of depth readings up to 38 mph (fast as I went).  I was able to navigate the side scan, and all the buttons made sense for the most part.  I was able to view known structure, and found tons I didn't know were there.  I  On the down scan, I was even able to see the fish streaking up and taking my bait.  I would then look at my rod and about two seconds later I would see the strike on the rod.  I was able to see the fish bite before you could see it on the rod, and tell my fishing buddy to get ready, the rod is about to go off.  I also got to check out a loon that was diving all around the boat at one time.    I couldn't figure out how to record, but that was my own fault for not writing it down, I thought that was in the manual, but I couldnt find it.  I did have a persistent "bubble trail" on the screen about 7 ft on the port side, no matter if I trimmed the motor all the way out of the water or not.  I didn't have any issues seeing what was beyond it, but I would like it gone, so I need to figure out what is causing that.  Otherwise, I am a happy camper with my new unit.

That's the type of experience most people have.......Just because you see a lot of problem posts doesn't mean everyone is having those problems. 
Sounds like you are off to a great start.

    Congratulations on a successful day on the water.
    Much of that can be attributed to you.
    You spent time learning about problems that may occur and possible corrections.
    As Bob B said, not everyone has them.
    Many of the questions on why the unit doesn't work as expected are traced back to installation/adjustment issues.
    It takes awhile to learn how to use all the features.

I'd love to take the credit, but I have to give it to this forum.  Without it, it would be nearly impossible to learn 1/10 what I've learned in just a few days.  I realize that it's very easy to post up something when things aren't going your way, and less likely, when you are happy.  I look forward to reading and learning more as I go here.  I'll even give partial credit to HB for making a great product...but only partial as I know they keep eyes on this place, and I don't want them to get a big head

As for that bubble trail showing in the left Si sonar…  Does this show up when the boat is still and the motor raised all the way up?

Yes.  it does.  Although I have the ducer mounted below the trim tabs, I'm wondering if it might be picking up the port side trim tab, as it's about the right distance.  I was considering just tilting the transducer down on the port side slightly out of level as a test to see if the trail dissapears, or changes sides.  If it does, I think I've found the culprit.. Thoughts?
