Numbered series legacy units have the white data boxes ...such that the Readouts are selectable under the Setup tab and down to "Select Readouts ...
(Some of the data boxes are not changeable in the NAV/Chart views) ...

800 and 900 series SI units can turn off the data boxes under the Sonar tab and down to "Readouts Off" and have depth/temp overlayed onto the full screen SI view....

1100 series units can turn off the white data boxes completely ...

HELIX units have the above options and the added option of turning off the Readouts under the Setup tab and down "Select Digital Readouts" ...

ONIX has more customization of data than numbered units or HELIX units ...

Which unit do you have ... ??

Some of the data boxes in the NAV views are hard coded (even tho you can change the selection in the Readouts menu) ...

I'm not sure which boxes are hard coded in the 798 ... COG I'm sure ...

Here is the page from the 798 manual ...
