Follow up to "little" project
« on: May 19, 2015, 11:04:34 AM »
Thank GOD for Camohunter's tutorials!!!!

My last predicament, was that I was able to produce a "rainbow" map from my data, however, when I would slide the transparency slider on the left of the screen, all I would be left with was my custom shoreline with a pure white map and background!

Wondering just what I had been download to my AC chart in the form of a map, I popped my AC chip into my HB unit and waa laa, my map was there!!!

Fast forward to the next morning, I moved my chip back into my laptop, and fired up AC after having closed it. What I saw was the default BG yellow/blue map covered with lots of blue and green squares/rectangles. I right click on the map to set the spot, click the button and now I see my custom shoreline, filled with colored tracks. Then I click the make a map button, and in seconds...I'm back to the infamous rainbow map.....again!

I try the slider with the same results....no contours. So, like I did dozens of times over the weekend, I go to Tools:Settings:Background map, and see a screen  for BG map choices. The first choice if for Lakemaster, and is set on default. Again, as I did dozens of times over the weekend, I changed from default, to custom(AC), close the window, and again move the slider. Yep you guessed it........a contour map!!!!!

So what happened? In the past, switching from lakemaster default to custom(AC), has ALWAYS produced the contour map, but I tried that over and over and over this weekend, AND IT WOULD NOT WORK!

I am now wondering IF, by removing my AC chip, restarting AC, and reinserting the chip, somehow worked like a "reboot" of a computer when "things" get constipated?

I now know, that in the future, should I run afoul when working with AC, I'm going to try such a "reboot" right off the bat, and if that doesn't work.....go from there! There is nothing worse than performing the correct procedure and it not working.......I almost started drinking!!!
