798 si temperture problem
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:24:34 PM »
The unit has been woking perfect when I noticed this past weekend the 798 was reading 100 degrees for the water temperature. The unit would report the correct temperature occasionally which was around 70 degrees. What shgould I check?

As i mentioned it has been working perfect until this last trip to the lake everything looks fine.

hgv,
Try connecting your 798 unit to another Humminbird transducer that has the built-in temperature sensor (most of them do).  Usually the problem is the temperature sensor in the transducer going bad.

Sounds like it may be time for a warranty replacement on the transducer than.
Call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and see about getting it replaced.

Yes indeed.  See about a swap or a replacement. These transducers are susceptable to dings and bumps and abuse..
