i believe my chart speed was set on 3. I was just idling around at about 3 mph. The pic where the mph was at 2, i must have just turned around and not made it back to speed yet. I did slow it down some at one point when i was just using the trolling motor and still gave me good definition on the pics. The unit here is the 2013 model HD unit by the way. First one i've owned so, i can't say how it compares to the non-LED screen. However, it's easy to see in the sunlight. Keep the feedback comin' guys!! Thanks, hvychev77

     Nice pics.
Are you using the Real Time Sonar portion of the 2D side? (the column with the horizontal lines at the bottom)
If not, you can turn that off and it will increase the screen display for the 2D. Actually three choices--- wide, narrow and off.

To be honest, i'm not sure. I thought i had it set to narrow, but i thought that was just the width of the sonar beam. Now i'm confused, i'll have to plug her up and see. Thanks for the tip. hvychev77

My understanding of RTS is that it is the fastest displayed sonar return. Less processing. Similar to the old flasher style units.
If you don't need that, it can be turned off and will allow more display area for either the 2D or SI image.

Are you saying that by turning off the RTS you can get rid of all the data on left of screen.Tks

In hvychev77 pics above, the screen is divided in two parts.  2D on the left, SI on the right.
Within the 2D display, it is divided again with normal 2D on the left and RTS on the right side of the 2D display.
RTS looks like a column with horizontal lines at the bottom.
You can turn this part of the 2D image off if you want, allowing more area for the normal 2D display.

   I understand your confusion.
"it can be turned off and will allow more display area for either the 2D or SI image."
Poor wording on my part. I should have left 'for either' and 'or SI image' out of that sentence.
My mind raced ahead to being able to change the 50/50 screen split. It can go to 30/70 or 70/30.
