I just did the new update. it appeared all went well. there is no network
tab.Should there be? Does there need to be another unit attached, before you will
see it? Will Ethernet work with/in conjunction with Cannonlink,or will it treat
it as if it were interlink? I disconected interlink, cannonlink, restarted, and
still no network tab.

More questions, info On update 5.32 there is an option to create a iP address, which I assume will be used on Ethernet. I had not done that prior to upgrading to 5.43. That option disappeared after updating to 5.43. I reloaded 5.32 , created an IP address, shut down loaded 5.43. the option to create an IP still disappeared,But the IP I created was saved and still there. But still no network tab. I think there are some obvious issues with 5.43 and would wait to upgrade till there is more info.

I saw a post from Greg on another site where he said you will only get the menu once you hook up the ethernet cable.

After reading the Ethernet Manual
Here
http://store.humminbird.com/media/document/Ethernet_Manual.pdf (http://store.humminbird.com/media/document/Ethernet_Manual.pdf)
It says when you select share nav data, ethernet chooses which gps head will be used.
Question: does this happen even when you have local gps selected on both units. If it does that will be a issue (IMO) for those of us that have a gps at the bow and at the transom for better waypoint marking accuracy.
Is there any way to share waypoint data but keep gps head local, for the above reason?
