Title: Linking HB Units
Post by: gammo42 on May 07, 2016, 06:04:46 PM
Does anyone know if you can link older units (898) with the newer Helix models? I am wondering if I was to purchase a Helix unit with GPS if I could link it to my 898 to provide the positioning information. I live in Australia and it is only a little bit dearer to buy a Helix unit than a new GPS Antenna.

Cheers

Gammo

If it were 2 Helix units or a Helix and xx9 series unit, it there would be no problem doing this.....and i am pretty certain you could share the GPS from the 898 to the Helix ..... but there may be problems going the other way.

I emailed Humminbird about transducer sharing a year or so ago, and they told me "the new can see the old, but the old cannot see the new."  It may be that the GPS would share, but would be quesionable.......Someone who has that setup is going to need to test this to see if it works.

I Tried replying with a pic of my 1198 sharing si data over Ethernet to my helix. They network no problem. Latest software.  Full network capabilities.  Helix non si becomes a si unit. And the 1198 also can see the 2d from helix. Can share GPS signals. Everything.  I'm currently doing it.
