putting waypoints from another unit to 1199
« on: April 15, 2015, 12:46:29 PM »
I have been using a 898c si unit and now I bought a 1199ci hd si. I now put the 898 by my trolling motor and have the 1199 at the console with the Ethernet cable connecting them. The 898 unit has a lot of my waypoints on it and I want to put them on the 1199. Can someone tell me the easiest way to do this? I have an 8g sd card in each unit and a Navionics premium hotmaps car in each unit as well.

The waypoints on one unit should show up on the other Ethernet connected unit graggy.
If you just want to move the waypoints and/or have a copy of them on the 1199 unit try exporting the waypoints form your 898 to a memory card (one of your 8GB cards will work for this) and installing said memory card into the 1199 unit.  It should auto-load the new waypoints after which you can remove the memory card.

Pesonally I would export the waypoints from both units to their memory cards and bring them into HumminbirdPC so that I have one master list to work from (one list for each lake that is).  That way I have a backup copy of my waypoints and I can load them on one or both units if I want.  I can also rename them far easier than in the unit and look at them on Google Earth.  Since the waypoint file will be saved as a *.GPX file you can use it in other software programs.

Ok so I downloaded Humminbirdpc and I went to my 898 unit and turned it on without turning on the 1199. Then I went to my menu got to navigation and scrolled down to try and get to export all data but this option was not there. Does it have something to do with both unit tied together now. I am assuming that if I could export the data to a card I would just need to import it into Humminbirdpc. If I had humminbirdpc open and then put the card in my computer would it see it?

graggy, one of the changes to the software of the 898 unit over the years was to add the waypoint management system which got rid of the Export Nav Data menu.  That function was moved and is the same as your 1199 unit now:
MENU>MENU>Nav menu tab>Waypoints, Routes, Tracks menu>Options>Select All and…>Export.
That should get the information onto the memory card which you can use in HumminbirdPC to see the waypoint data.
