Download problem
« on: April 15, 2012, 01:40:26 PM »
Need a little help as I'm challenged a bit with this.

I tried to download the newest version to my SDHC card from Humminbird.com website.  Went to my personal account and the way I read it, I would download the right side bottom listed "898" to my card - the other top three listed do not need to be downloaded.  When I tried this, after clicking on "download" a screen would come up on my pc that said something to the effect that my computer did not recognize the download file.  It did not come up with "save" as directions state.  I then went to this site (download forum) and right clicked on the download "898" and used the "save as" and where to be saved as "removable disk e".  This seemed to work as when done, a file named "898c_v6.180.bin" was on the SDHC card.  Is this file now ready to download on my 898 even though it didn't load exactly as Humminbird.com said it should?  Don't want to mess up what I have now if this is not right.  I appreciate any help and answers you have, as I plan on taking it out tomorrow and getting aquainted more with all applications and operations.  Would like to download newest version before doing this.

Thanks for the help,  Iowafuzz

Yes, you can use the download here from this forum.

I have not heard of any problem with getting code from here.
It should be stabil.
See a couple of posts right near this on how to install the code..
In a nutshell do this..
1) Power on your unit
2) Restore Factory defaults
3) power off the unit
4) put in the sd card
5) power on the unit
6) wait until the update is done (can take a bit for the 26 mb file)
7) restore factory defaults (again)
 remove card
