Hi, When i press the thrust pedal on my terrova the screen on my 597di goes haywire. the puck is on the trolling motor and all new equipment. hb has been very helpful and sent new power cable with filter and ferrite sleave for power wires which i installed this weekend. no change. I have an all aluminum boat(tundra) and the locators are wired to the fuse panel which i assume is fed by the cranking motor. should i wire the locator directly to the cranking battery or any other suggestions.

Isolating the HB Unit from the cranking or trolling motor battery may help. Seperate battery.  Some have had success with making sure grounds are tied together.  Some people have added ferrite chokes to the power cables.  Its gonna come down to doing some troubleshooting and seeing whats causing the problem.  Batteries, power cables, transdcuer cables, etc.

This is a very common issue and there are many solutions people have come up with.  Do a search and you will find many different solutions.

Does it matter whether you put the choke closer to the ducer or the unit?  Or just as long as it's on the cable?  I have one coming.

I think you need to put it closer to the unit.  It certainly doesnt hurt to experiment though.

It does when you have to fish it through the hull.  Closer to the unit works for me!!

Closer to the unit is best because you want to filter the interference out just before it can enter into the unit.  Filtering it out XX feet away from the unit may allow the interference to get back on the transducer lines.

Call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks if you are still having trolling motor interference.
