798CI and XP 9 20 T compatibility
« on: March 13, 2010, 05:58:19 PM »
Hi there,

I tried to connect the thru hull trancducer XP 9 20 T to my 798CI unit via a TS2 W switch.
Im trying to use it as a second trancducer for higher speed when not using the SI transducer.
When I switch to the XP 9 20 T the unit says theres no transducer connected. Also tried to connect the XP 9 20 T directly to the unit and the unit stil doesnt recognize it.

Is this a compatibility isue or it is possible that the XP 9 20 T is damaged? Is there something I can set on my unit so I can use it?

Thanx

Andrej Mady

Maybe a bad switch.  Hook it directly to the unit and see if it recognises it!  If it does, then it its most likely a problem with the switch.  If it doesn't its the transducer.

Mady, I believe you will have to change the transducer select to duel beam for that to work. Rather than the switch you may be better off with the "y" cable. Bob

I tried that with no result... probably the transducer like You say.

Il try that but I was looking for smething faster to switch beetween slow and fast cruising.

Anyway the good thing is that the SI trancducer is reading well the botom with the dual beam even ad 26 kts... ;)

You should not have to change the Trasnducer Select menu when switching from the XP-9-20-T transducer and the CSi transducer.

Try this: go into the Setup menu and set the Demonstration menu to the “Off” setting and test it again.  If it works than that means there is something wrong with the temperature probe that is attached to the transducer.
