Title: Helix 10 SI G1 turning itself on

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this? My Helix 10 SI is usually on and in the start-up screen (the one that says press exit) when I remove the screen cover. I have been careful when putting on the cover so as to not push in the area of the on/off button and usually pull the top of the cover off to check that it is off before tarping my boat. The next time I remove the cover it is turned on.

I have it connected direct to the starting battery and the battery has a single bank Minn Kota onboard charger connected and plugged in while in storage. Battery is always fully charged. Boat is tarped and under carport when not in use.

Right now I have it with the bottom right corner of  cover not fully pressed on. I'll have to check it when it warms up a little.

Any one with any ideas or similar experiences.

I've only seen it a couple of times because of the cover.  If the issue is only happening during storage then maybe a battery cutoff switch to isolate battery from the boat during charging.  I have a cutoff switch for both the cranking and TM batteries so now I never put the cover on until I know the cut-off switch is turned off.  Haven't seen any corrective measures for the cover but maybe someone else knows a different cure.

All my electronics are on a dedicated battery in my console.  Positive on the battery goes to a breaker on the dash then to a switch beside the breaker then to the buss bar.  I kill all power going to all electronics at the end of a day fishing as soon as the boat is on the trailed.  I too have had mine turn on when putting the cover on. Don

Had same problem.
installed a on off battery switch.

I have modified the rubber cover by gluing a rubber O-ring around the area (inside the cover) that touches the power button  ...

This created a bumper (of sorts) around the power button to keep the rubber cover from pressing against the power button  ...

      That is a clever, simple and effective solution.  What type of glue did you use for the rubber/plastic bond?
