Another deception  >:( >:(

Installed the new version 6.570 in my 1197c...... the speed of the screen SI is faster than DI and 2D.
No synchronization between the images SI x DI/2D.
Tested in DEMO MODE and RECORD FILE (v. 6.310).

In short, I returned to the previous version (6.310) that works fine on my 1197c.

@RoughHouse, sounds like they just renamed it to dual beam.

sss_floripa:
In laymen's terms, exactly what does this mean?
'No synchronization between the images SI x DI/2D.
Tested in DEMO MODE and RECORD FILE (v. 6.310).'

Is the 6.570 update jacked up or what?

I'm currently running 6.310 on my 1197c and it's
never run better.
I'm afraid to do the new update, since I don't use
ipilot anyway.
Has anyone else updated their 1197c with 6.570?,
and give us your take on it, if you can.

Thanks in advance.

Hello ITGEEK.

1st - installed the new version 6.570 in my 1197c.
2st - after update started in simulator mode (demo).
3st - i observed that the scroll speed of the screen with SI is faster compared to the 2D screen or DI.
4st - no synchronization between images SI / DI / 2D.
5st - i returned to version 6.310.
6st - i performed the same test in simulator mode (demo) and it worked perfectly in version 6.310.
7st - 'm stubborn ..... reinstall the new version in 6.570....tested with a recorded file (. DAT SON /) in September/2012 on my SD card.
8st - i observed that the scroll speed of the screen with SI is faster compared to the 2D screen or DI.
9st - i returned to version 6.310...everything is working perfectly (6.310)

Conclusion: the new 6570 version presented problems in my 1197.

I think the programmers Humminbird already have new work for 2013.

Has anyone else updated their 1197c with 6.570 ?

Thanks to all.

Sorry sss_floripa:
I'm still very confused.

Are you saying that the SI screen scrolls faster than both the
DI and 2-D screens, and that they are not synchronised
to show the same objects/bottom at the same time?
And, you saw this in real time, and on a recording?

I wonder if Greg knows if Humminbird intentionally made the
SI screen scroll faster for some reason?

Anyone out there have any additional information
on this update (pros or cons)?

No mention of it yet to me ITG.
I haven’t even updated my units to the new software yet as I’ve been out of the office and busy doing my ‘normal’ job duties when I’ve been here.  Maybe I can get it loaded later this week but will only be able to look at in the simulator mode.

Rough House, that was just a name change.  With the Ethernet connections now and the ability to share sonar data they are using the type of sonar in the menu versus where it came from to help relieve any confusion.

No.  So far I have only seen the one post here about it.

EDIT: Okay, I just loaded it on the 998c Si I have in my office and I can see what you are talking about.  Its like they supercharged the Si sonar as it appears to be updating faster than it ever has before.  I won;t be able to take a boat ride to check this out on the water though.

Anyone load the 6.570 software yet and got out on the water with it?

I have an 1197c, so I don't know about the 1198c.
If you log into the Humminbird site, it will tell you the latest
update(s) for your unit(s).
If you haven't done so yet, register your unit(s) with them.

sorry maybe i worded it wrong.  I know what the latest update is, i just applied it.  its 6.570

what i meant was what is the version before 6.570?  the only one available for download here is 6.180 from march 2012.  there had to be something between 6.180 and 6.570 wouldn't you think?

Yep 6.57 has problems.  Here's one link:

Seems HB's 6.570 feature-release screwed the pooch!

This is why I am a bit slow to update code here on this forum,  We prefer it to be tested by the guys here first and then if the results are favorable then we might update the library.
the reason we try to keep backlevels is so when the new code is loaded and it has problems you can get a backlevel.  HB is hard to get backlevel code from..

Yes, I updated both my 1198 & 998 and the v6.57 left them useless. I was on the water for 10 hours with them. SI was scrolling at a 10 or higher speed even though chart speed was at 3. I cranked the chart speed down to 1 and the si was still screaming. 2d/si/DI were not linked at all. 2d was barely moving on chart speed 3 while DI/si scrolled thru six or seven full screens before 2d cleared one full screen. Also, something was wrong with 2d. I would go over brush piles with bait and fish all over the DI but not showing anything on 2d. And yes I double checked all my 2d settings and recerified multiple times. Thanks to the good folks on here I was able to recover my units by restoring back to v6.49. Al is well now.

I reinstalled 6.57 on my 1197cSI and 998cSI.

I did not notice any problems with the 998cSI, but since it's transducer is on my Terrova I did not ever have my speed set faster than 2mph.

Major problem with 6.570 on the 1197cSI console unit.  I seemed to detect my transducer as all the 2D, DI and SI sonar screens were displayable.  But no sonar data was displayed, just blank screen on all 2D, DI and SI screens.  Tested later out of the water when on boat trailer and same blank screens.  Also no pinging or ticking sounds from the transducer were heard which might explain why no sonar data being displayed.  6.310 installed and all joy.

Recently we have released new software (6.57) for the Side Imaging units that incorporate the capability to run the revolutionary 360 and IPILOT LINK technologies. As we released this software we began to hear feedback related to the increased scroll rate on the SI screen. First, thank you for providing us with this type of feedback. Your feedback on this topic is absolutely on target. This wasn't an intentional change. This was something that resulted from the changes that were made to incorporate 360 imaging and should have been corrected. We take our commitment to provide you with excellent/ innovative products very seriously and I want to apologize to you, our valued Humminbird users, for this situation. We are working around the clock to resolve this issue and we will be releasing a new version of software for the Side Imaging models to resolve this issue in the very near future. Please stay tuned for a post to announce the release of the new version of software.

Thank you very much for your support of Humminbird Products.

It shows a lot of class that Humminbird is admitting
to an error.
Hopefully, the fix won't take too long.

I'm holding off on updating my 1197c to the 6.570 update.

Little Gazoo's issue sounds similar to one I had this weekend with 6.57.

2. I turned off sonar when boat was on the lift, I had traveled about 130 miles to go fishing and wanted GPS to get locked on enhanced fix while out of the water. When I lowered the boat in the water and turned sonar back on via hitting power button and selecting Sonar on it would not start. I reselected sonar off and on a few times with no luck. I finally selected Sonar on and hit exit then shut machine down and restarted and then sonar worked again. This was all frequencies.

6.600 is out and it's still screwed up.

From Wayne on BBC

OK, I just had to take a peak at it, LOL

I give it a failing grade as the processing is still screwed up.

This is what I see.
I have one unit with 6.490 and one unit with 6.600 running beside each other.
With Simulator at the screen scroll speed setting of 5 on both, the swimming pool is the same size on the displays- I paused the screens and measured the pool length. BUT with the 6.600 at the scroll speed of 10 it is just like it was with the 6.570- an Olympic size instead of a private pool size.
To make it even more laughable, at a screen scroll speed of 1, the pool is the size of a kid's pool.

With the 6.490, the pool doesn't change sizes no matter what the scroll speed is and it shouldn't. The screen scroll speed on a recording playback should only affect how fast subjects pass across the display.

Additionally during playback the two sides of SI don't move together. they sort of alternate advancing on the display very obviously.

“With Simulator at the screen scroll speed setting of 5 on both, the swimming pool is the same size on the displays- I paused the screens and measured the pool length.

The screen scroll speed on a recording playback should only affect how fast subjects pass across the display.”

I haven’t looked at the 6.600 software yet but do have a question about the above part of the statement that I copied:

Shouldn’t the structure stretch and shrink as you either speed up or slow down the display update speed?  It does on 2D sonar, so why would this be any different?  I don’t work with sonar recordings but isn’t this the way it has been working?

I am a member of that web site TroyBoy.  I just have not made it there this morning so far (I have a meeting to prepare for at 11:00 AM).  I may make it out there after that as I am mostly stuck in my office on weather watch.

I don’t understand what your reply means Chuck.  Does this mean that you do or do not think that the sonar data should stretch and shrink as you change the Chart Speed menu?
