My first sidescan picture, but absolutely not last one
« on: April 24, 2014, 02:55:57 PM »
Hello,

Finally ice is starting to melt here cold Finland, so I was able to test drive my rubber boat, "new" motor and my brand new Humminbird   ;D

Lakes were still frozen but river was completely free of ice.

Sorry about bad quality of image but there was so much else to do because there were strong current and motor had to be adjusted. Also my sensor holder bended little, but that will be fixed.

But what do you think whats on bottom of that river?  I think it might be thick wire, because i have heard that this kind of stuff has been dumbed to river when constructing nearby railway bridge. Is that white color very echo like metal or someting else hard?

When ice melts from lakes I will add more images. I know at least 2 car wrecks and one mystery wreck, so let see, maybe there will be something worth diving. :)

Hello Neighbour

For the white line I have no explanation, but in the other structure which can be seen, seems high to rise out of the ground, hence the long echo shadow.
It is always good to scan such structures from different directions of travel, which can facilitate the interpretation.

Yep. This time i was pretty busy driving that boat at current of the river so i did not have much time to look interesting objects, until at home.

yea that one object is throwing a pretty good shadow with some type of a base on it up top.  What ever the line is I would say it's hard...throwing a bright return like that.
Tell them I've gone fishing!

Okay, now i have 2 hours of data from our quarry where we use to dive. Car wrecks could be seen on side scan data and when i dived to one i realised why. Water is mildly acidic and only tires could tell there once was car :D.

But now my plan is to make depth map of that quarry, but i have some problems with my Humviewer not exporting files I need. I have heard that its a bug of that version 86, but cant find older version anymore. Could someone guide me?

I can release full side and downscan video at full hd quality when this work is done.
