Hi guys.
Can anyone help me with my 997Si?
When i connect my 997 on my PC and open Humminbird PC i can't see my unit icon in the left side tab pane.
My unit is automatically going into the PC Connect mode (shows “PC Connect” at the top of the display)
When i connect my friends units 997 and 1197 i can see them very well.
I don’t know what’s going on here.
Thanks
MIKE

Hm,
that's strange: If it goes into PC connect mode, the unit is recognizing the computer.
Try the following:
If you have different serial/USB ports, check if the unit is recognized on a different port. I once also had the problem that I cannot get a connection established. Later I found out that I have to use my #3 USB port to get a connection. The unit wasn't recognized on the other ports.
Hope this helps.
Good luck / Harry
EDIT: Here's something that might help as well:

I do that with different serial port but nothing.
What else can i do?

Did you try restarting the PC and the unit and do complete new run? Sometimes this helps as well.
I'm still confused that the unit goes into PC connect mode but isn't recognized by HumminbirdPC.....

P.S.: I hope you're not freaking out like your avatar

try the older version HumminbirdPC 2.5.8

Yes I'm freaking out like my avatar because of this think i format my PC and i install the HumminbirdPc again and its still the same problem and only with my 997.The other 2 unit of my friends its ok. >:D

Legend,
I'm runnin' out of ammo here.
After formating your PC, is it still the same that the unit shows "PC connect"?
What version of software is on your unit and what version is on your friend's units?

All units have the same version 4.750.
I unistall the latest version and install the older version but nothing.
Yes it is still the same problem.
I don't know what else to do.

Can you try your unit on another PC? If you have the same problem, then it point to a problem in your HB unit. Just a thought.

Legend,
What port on the back of the unit are you using? Should be the same as NMEA/COM that your GPS plugs into.

I think Legend got the right port sorted out Robert, but just to make sure:
Here's the port Robert referres to
I hope you'll get it figured out and don't have to send your unit back Legend!

The port that i use is the right one because when i connect my 997 on my PC and open Humminbird PC my unit is automatically going into the PC Connect mode (shows “PC Connect” at the top of the display).
For what purpose is the other two ports to the left side?
-
Hi Legend,
the other two ports are for accessoiries like weather sense and downrigger and such stuff.
I still haven't firgured why the unit doesn't show up in your HumminbirdPC. :(.
The NMEA in connection of your unit is working I guess. Otherwise the unit would't go into PC connect mode. Maybe the NMEA out of your unit is damaged and therefore no data is coming to the PC.
My two cents

Those other two ports on the back of the 997 units are only used for testing at the factory. No added usage of them has been developed.
My guess is that the serial out side of the COM port is bad. Maybe a wire came loose from the internal connector or some electrical component failed. We know that the communication to the unit is working because the unit goes into the PC Connect mode but it’s the communication the other way that is not working. You will have to call Humminbird and get the unit back in to be fixed.

Thanks for straighten this out Greg.
I always though one can hook up accesoiries there, ' cause I though there is something written in the owners manual of my 981.
