Title: bad Interference from other electronics.
Post by: Juicegoose on July 31, 2017, 08:51:27 AM
I was gunna call humminbird this morning to discuss the issue as well but I'm getting wicked interference on my helix 10 whenever i run the trolling motor or even when a livewell pump comes on. you can see it like morse code on the side imaging screen and it gets worse as the trolling motor gets faster. Obviously its something in the negative wiring but I was curious how others have wired in their units to isolate them out. Thanks

Hi,
Most people use a separate battery for the sounder. That battery doesn't need to be large. A 12V, 6 -10 Ah acid-lead battery lasts for a day on water.

For what  it's worth, when I had that problem one of the guru's suggested I run a ground wire from the sounders negative battery terminal to the main engine. For me that solved the problem.
