Do you remember what the chart speed was?  I notice various boat speeds and this can greatly effect the image you get back.  In SI it ranges from .7 - 8.5.  When running a pattern or search of a area get a base boat speed and chart speed and keep using it.  Later you will learn that by upping the chart or lowering the chart it will help in other ways but first learn a base speed your unit likes.

5.4 looks better going under what I take was a bridge or something with pilings.  Did you have SI Enhance sharpness on anything other that "OFF"?  It looks a little grainy is the reason I asked.  Once you find a good location you can change it to low/med./high to get the fish to pop out in the image for you.

DI is effected the same way in your first DI shot.  The last one is better showing bait, thermo and it looks as though you went by pilings with one of them being closer to the boat than the other.

With a boat speed set at or just bellow your chart speed based off those good shots you should see good images.  The other stuff was just settings type issues from what I saw and some of the others may jump in to see if I'm on the right track.

As far as build up on the transducer I know some here that use Tilex and wipe the xducer down with it.  These are guys who keep the boat in the water at the slip all summer.

Hope it helps and let us know how it goes.

Tell them I've gone fishing!
