I am networking a 999HD SI and 859HD DI along with an IPilot link on my new boat. I finally located a 5 port ethernet switch which will arrive tomorrow, so in waiting, wanted to update the software on the 859. Humminbird says both units need to run 6.900 to be able to share the side, and down imaging. I loaded the 6.900 on my sd card, but the 859 would not recognize the new software. I tried two different cards, loaded after restoring defaults, and also on startup, with no luck. Do the units have to be networked, and see each other, before the 859 will allow the 6.900 update? Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to update both units with the same software? The 999 and 859 have different code and the update must be downloaded for each one.

I wondered about that myself, but this is a quote from the 6.900 update page.
"Adds sonar sharing features where the 999ci HD SI transducer on the network can be shared with a non SI (X)X59ci HD (2014) product through the Network Source Set Up Adv. tab. It also allows SI units to subscribe to dedicated DI. Both units must have software version 6.900 or higher."
Both my 999 and 859 are 2014 units.

Both units must have that version, but it is not the same update file........Each unit has it's own 6.90 update file. If you have the 859 unit registered, it's update will be a separate download.

Thanks for the reply and the information. The latest update for the 859 is 6.860. So perhaps the 6.900 just hasn't been released yet for the 800 series. I do know that they are releasing them over a period of time. Thanks again for the reply!
