Command line args for Humviewer...
« on: February 28, 2010, 08:42:46 AM »
Would it be possible to pass in arguments to the Humviewer application ?

If you could pass the full path to the SI .DAT file as the first argument to Humviewer and then a time or a location as the second argument, would it be possible to invoke Humviewer and get it to display the track at the point specified by the time or location.

I know it is a bit of a long shot - but it would be really cool to be able to invoke Humviewer from say Humfinder (or another application).

Have to say Martin, Humviewer is a great piece of software - thankyou for your efforts, we are very lucky.

Hi
Making the arguments is not a big problem, I have actually already looked it doing it. However as the HumViewer program is using quite a lot of memory I want to make it so that only one instance is started, and if an instance is already started then the arguments is passed to that. And that is a little challence to get that to work without my firewall to start asking questions.

So the question is, can you all accept that you have to allow your firewall to make a connection to allow the arguments to be passed to the existing instance of HumViewer, or would you prefer that multiple instances of HumViewer is started risking all of your computers memory to be used.

/Martin

Multiple instances would be fine by me. Ultimately, if lots of multiple instances slow things down, you can always kill them manually yourself; and I would rather that than mess around with the firewall settings !
