Transfering Hummviewer Waypoints to SD Card
« on: August 05, 2012, 01:06:05 AM »
Hi guys, have made recordings and played them on hummviewer, and created waypoints, transferred them to humminbird pc, but when uploading waypoints to sd card, the following message appears "this media is write protected". Card is sandisk 2GB, lock is 'off'. Have read every post here without any success, is anyone here able to get around this?

Possibly a bad card.  Try formating and copy to it again.

Chuck, have tried formating to FAT32 using humminbird pc but same message appears. Another card, a sandisk 4GB SDHC is the same. Card reader is a 'Gadget Geek' SD/MMC/RS-MMC. Is there another combination of card and card reader that would work, surely someone must know?

Do you have a ad port on your computer and not use the geek thingy?

Chuck, computer is hp pavillion dv6, has 13 ports. What is 'ad port'? Is there another way to transfer waypoints without using the card reader?

mako101, I think Chuck mis-keyed and meant “sd” instead of “ad”.  He is asking if there is an SD reader built into the computer.  You should try a different card reader/writer.  Make sure that it is SDHC compatible as the memory cards you are using are SDHC type memory cards and all card readers do not work with them.  There are many makes and manufacturers of these that will work.

Greg, the computer does have an SD port, the .gpx file loaded successfully to the SDHC card using humminbird pc, and they also loaded without using humminbird pc by placing the .gpx file in a folder first. Now just have to place SD card back in unit and see the new waypoints appear on the unit. Should the unit be switched on first before inserting SD card with the new waypoints?

mako101, the GPX file has to be loaded to the SD card using the HumminbirdPC software as it converts it from a GPX file to the DATA.HWF file that the unit uses.

I would power the unit on and then install the SD card.
