way out there question
« on: May 04, 2010, 07:15:20 PM »
I am not an Electrical Engineer so don't trash me to hard.  Since the 997 doesn't have video out nor ethernet, would it be possible to build an adapter that was SD card on one end connected to a usb on the other.  Since the unit can write data directly to the card, perhaps it could send data directly to a laptop via usb?????

Actually, I had spoke with someone about 6 months ago about this same setup!  From what I understand, it is possible!

I have not seen an SDIO in HB series yet.
The only wireless that I know is to take Video  out  and plug into a transmitter but this is not the recording stuff.
However depending on the data wanted it might be an option for the screen display.

My ultimate goal is to get the live data to  a bigger screen.  I can't justify upgrading to a new unit with video out, and it is fun to search and learn about new things anyway.  I see on the internet several folks wanted SD to UBS for mass storage of ipods, palms etc.  A company makes a chip to do it so it is getting closer.   Someone just needs to put it on a card and make an interface.   Saw the wireless and thought that might work.
