Linking my 999 hd si to my 798 hd si...need help please
« on: April 15, 2016, 11:25:43 AM »
I'm mounting my three Humminbird finders on my ocean boat and trying to figure the best way to do it. My ocean boat has a flybridge helm where I'll mount my 999, then a helm in the lower cabin where I'll mount my 798 and a fishing deck at back where I'll mount my 959 hd di.
My thought is; I'll mount two transducers on the transom...one SI and one DI ducer and link the 999 and 798 together on one transducer and the 959 will stand alone...or is there a way to link the 959 with the other two as well?  What cables / equipment will I need to accomplish what I'm after?

Thanks!

Just for clarification ... :

The 798 SI Combo is not Ethernet capable ...
The 798 HD SI Combo is Ethernet capable ...

To Ethernet more that 2 devices you will need the AS ETH 5PXG ...
http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-ETH-5PXG/

You will need an Ethernet adapter cable for all 3 units ...
http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-QDE/

And you will need Ethernet cables long enough to reach from each unit to the AS ETH 5PXG ...
They come in 2, 10, 15, 20, 30ft ...
http://www.humminbird.com/Freshwater/Product-Category/Accessories/Cables/?facets=7319,

The AS ETH 5PXG requires 12v power so make plans for a switched circuit to the AS ETH 5PXG ...

The xx9 series units will share Sonar, xducers,Accessories, and Waypoints  over Ethernet ...
The xx8 can only share Waypoints from both xx9 units ... And only share 2d and SI from the 999 SI (because xx8 series units can only share "like Sonar technologies" - the 959 DI is a different Sonar technology) ...

Thanks Rickie...I do have the 798 HD model.
It sounds to me like maybe I should use the 798 as the stand alone unit and avoid the cost of the hub.
But just to be clear...the 999 and the 959 will share all technologies between them and allow me to view either screen as if they are one unit?

Correct ... Make sure both units have the latest software for Sonar sharing ..
