Title: Alternate Power Supply, don't follow prompts
Post by: ChiroChris on May 09, 2014, 11:18:20 PM
I just got a 999.
I wanted to study at home.

I followed directions found on this website.

Went to Cabellas and got power cable, pc11.

Radio Shack has a 12 volt 1 amp power supply.
- This part was tricky. You need to know positive from negative. I have a voltometer or whatever they call the things. Lets me know positive from negative DC. You want to wire the positive of the 12 volt power supply to the positive of the power pc11 cable which you you plug into the back of the fishfinder.

Radio Shack  sent me to Auto Zone for the "in line", glass body, silver end fuse. I then wired a 3 amp fuse into the positive line of the pc11 cord..

Fired everything up and it worked.

To get to simulator mode this is what I have to do.

Fire up the 999 fishfinder.

After a bit, if says:
"Not connected to transducer."

Follow prompt and
- Press  Menu

- Choose simulator
A screen with yellow print will appear.
Do not follow prompt and press "escape". This turns my machine off.

Instead
- Press menu to get into simulator.

Ta da !!!!

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums ChiroChris.

What version of software are you running in your 999ci HD Si unit?

Howdy Greg,
Software version 6.830
Here are a couple images I copied and pasted from the playback on the HumViewer.  I was going fast so there is some prop wash.
What the heck is  it?
I've got a couple of  actual "snap shots", from the Humminbird,  but nothing of interest.
These picts are from the "save snap shop " feature of the HumViewer. I've got the entire playback of the HumViewer, with different views and color pallets,  to play with. I love it.
Only problem I have experienced with the 999 was with Downview.
My Downview was getting streaks and being unreadable at a chart speed of 2 mph.
I had set it at my boat speed. I often troll at 2 mph.
Humminbird said there is a glitch in the software. To change my chart speed to 1 mph or 3 mph.
Fixed the problem, as you can see.

Thanks for the software version Chris.  I had not heard of anyone else having this problem.
I don’t know what that is other than it being man-made.  You may need to do some research into the lake you were on to get a better idea of what it could be plus take some more sonar recordings of it from different angles/directions.
