H.B.Pc data to H.B. unit.
« on: December 25, 2012, 06:22:57 PM »
When I make changes to waypoints in H.B. Pc. and copy changes back to chip, the changes do no
show on my unit.  What should I be doing to have waypoint changes transferred to unit?   ::)  Fay

did you insert the card before or after you turned on the unit? it might not have loaded up.

Does anyone know if this is the way it is suppose to work?  Insert card after powering up!  Fay

I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to work or not,
but this is how I update waypoints on my system.

One test is to turn off your unit and put in an updated waypoint SD card.
If they don't load in when you turn on your unit, then maybe
it's normal to put the SD card in while the unit is on.

Greg would know for sure.

Yes, this is they way it is supposed to work. 2 or 3 updates ago HB changed the procedure from inserting chip then powering on to powering on then inserting the chip.

At the end of February of this year (2012), there was a change in software that made the units only attempt to load Nav Data if the memory card was installed after the unit was powered up.  This was in software version 6.180 (and all newer software versions):

“Disable Nav Data Auto Upload for SD Cards - Navagation Data stored on an SD card will no longer update automatically.  You will now be prompted as to whether you would like to update the Nav Data.”

This was a Customer requested feature change.
