which transducer to use

I have a alum boat and trying to trade for a new boat and want to put the transducer in the hull of the boat .. can i use the same transducer or do I have to get another...

Which unit do you have?
If it is an Si unit than the Si sonar will not work well when mounted inside-the-hull and so the Si transducer would have to go on the outside of the boat.
