Title: running two helix 9 and two transducers
Post by: f3honda4me on August 12, 2016, 03:32:39 PM
Hi everyone, I've done a ton of searching, watched some videos, read some humminbird manuals and haven't exactly found my answer.  My boat has two helix 9 units, one is the SI GPS the other is just sonar GPS.  The front unit (sonar gps) is connected to the transducer in my terrova, while the console unit (SI) is connected to the transducer on the transom.  The helix units ARE networked together.  When running both, of course I get a lot of cross talk when using switchfire max.  (clear mode gets rid of the cross talk lines)  I'd like to be able to use max, so I'm thinking what I need to do is have the front unit instead "share" the transom transducer with the back unit, or have the back unit feed the 2d sonar data to the front unit.  I just can't figure out how to do it.  I assume that by doing this, the transducer in the terrova would be turned "off" and thus eliminate cross talk.  When I am using the trolling motor and scanning, I generally have the front unit on 2d sonar 83/200 and have the console unit split screen with DI/sonar or DI/SI or SI/sonar.

I don't think I need to have both transducers running at the same time, since all it does is make max mode rather useless.  I just need to figure out how to have both units share the data from the one transducer and disable the TM transducer!

I think I finally found the answer.  I just have to tell both units to use the SI transducer on the transom via the network setup (finally found it).  This will disable the transducer on the TM and eliminate the crosstalk!

Yes, that's one way to do it ..... or you could just turn off the sonar on the other unit.  Just press the power button quickly and turn off the sonar.

If you run both units on the same 2D transducer, I don't know if that automatically disables the 2D on the unit not being used....If not, just turn it off manually.

When u go to network settings on the bow unit and switch 2d source to the other unit it will turn off the ping to the trolling motor ducer
