Title: Helix 5 SI transducer upgrade ?
Post by: PAPA BEAR on February 23, 2015, 02:30:39 PM
Is the upgrade to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducer worth it on a Helix SI unit.  I would like to improve my view while on the water.

PAPA BEAR,
Whether it would be worth it or not would be an individual judgment.  This is the same way it was for the 797, 798, 598, 698 and 398 units [all of these have smaller LCDs].  Most who posted about these units said that it was worth it and that they did see a difference while a smaller number did not.  There will be additional detail in the 455kHz Si sonar but with the smaller display you may not be able to see it.  Now if you looked at a screen snapshot on your PC, with its larger display, the difference is definitely noticeable.

Thanks Greg.
The Helix is a great little unit.  I have just about worn the buttons off of it learning what settings to use. Viewing a better picture on a big screen will be beneficial.

Humminbird 798 si with XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducer and sonartrx produces a great picture on your PC.
