Title: Software for 587ci HD DI
Post by: RiverDewey on January 08, 2021, 04:21:10 PM
Does anyone have software version 6.090 or 6.xxx for a 587ci HD DI? The reason I ask is that for some reason (unknown to me) I decided to upgrade this old perfectly functional unit with the latest software release (7.300). It had been working fine and was even working with a Lakemaster card. I went through all the correct procedures that Humminbird likes (reset to default, even cleared and reformatted nav logs). Update went smoothly and the unit rebooted. It all seems to work fine and I got some new menu options but now it cannot read Lakemaster cards. I've tried several other known working cards and it will just sit there at a white screen saying "chart loading". I have reset defaults again, formatted the nav directories, etc and still the same.

I called Humminbird (email was hopeless and agent blew me off). The Customer Service rep has been amazing. We worked through a number of trouble shooting procedures and now they agree that I should go back to the factory installed software of 6.090. The only problem is that they cannot find it. I should clarify that by saying what they found is a filename of 590409-1_v6_640_nand.bin AND it is of file size 113MB. All the binary files I've seen are 2-3MB (considerably smaller).

The above file will not load from an SD card. The unit just ignores it like it's not even on the card (that is the only file on the card). I could use HumminbirdPC to try to load it but it is so big I am afraid to try. I am considering just leaving the unit the way it is since it works, and not use it for Lakemaster chips/GPS as I had planned.

What do you all think? Anyone have the 6.090 bin file?

Thanks for your time and opinions!! And thanks to such a great board. A lot of great stuff here.
