Broke pivot assembly
« on: January 23, 2013, 02:09:52 PM »
pulled boat out last night saw broken plastic pivot. Pivot is for a standard transom mount for the 998. There is no evidence of a strike on the transducer. Transducer was not kicked up. Break starts at the right tab of the transducer and spider webs up and left. Has any one seen this?

Yep have seen this before.  it usually is an issue with the tightening of the screws.  (overtight) and causing a binding pressure which then causes the ears ( of the transducer) to crack.
Good luck...

Thanks for the response chuck! The transducer ears are not damaged it is the( plastic) pivot piece that bolts to the stainless steel transom mount via the headed pin or the pivot bolt -pin. I have a new one coming from hb factory outlet i purchased the whole assembly saw no other option to obtain specified part. Do you know of a source for parts and pieces? I am pretty shure it is operator error and not a defect i run things to there breaking point! i use the boat in the pacific ocean big swells and heavy ebb chop.
great job with this forum its been a big help!

Not sure that this is the cause for the pivot to break salty pup; but we have also seen where chemicals have reacted with some of the plastics we use on our products.  Make sure that something is not dripping down onto the transducer.
