Title: Confused about waypoint groups
Post by: PeekRhol on March 17, 2014, 09:00:37 AM
I have my first combo sounder with gps, an 898cx hd si. It's a great device, but I have a problem with waypoints.

I have the HB software installed, and it's easy to use. But I'm having trouble understanding waypoint management, even after reading the waypoint management manual.

My problem is this: at the moment, I have about 50 waypoints in my sounder, and it's a giant pain having to scroll through them. I was hoping to use groups to sort them and reduce the number of waypoints that I need to scroll through. I thought that groups were like folders, and if I moved a bunch of waypoints into a group, that the waypoints would not be visible outside the group, but that when I went into that group, the waypoints would be visible. Is my understanding correct? If so, I must be doing something wrong, because the waypoints still show in the master list, not only in the group view.

Are you as confused as me? I have attached a screen shot of the HB software, showing the waypoints in the group 'C Morwong', but they also show up in the main waypoints list in the GPX file. What am I doing wrong? I thought I was onto something when I saw that I could make them visible or not, but it doesn't seem to help much.

There's one other confusing thing.... There is (for some reason) an entry for the Morwong Group in the C Morwong group. Why?? Any ideas?
