Title: GPS Not Picking up Signal - New Helix 10 HW MSI GPS CHIRP G2N
Post by: BenLrsn on April 26, 2020, 07:41:03 AM
Hi all, anyone ever hear of an internal GPS not working on a new bird unit out of the box? Installed my Helix 10 HW MSI CHIRP GPS G2N unit and too the boat out on the lake yesterday. Everything worked great except for no GPS location detected. There is nothing obstructing the unit from the sky so that's not the issue. Even tried resetting factory settings on the unit to no avail. The only thing I haven't tried is updating software from 2.110 to 2.18 but wouldn't think that'd be necessary to fix this issue, as I have a friend who bought the same unit at the same time and his GPS works. Any ideas? I plan on calling HB support Monday.

Just realized I put a graph glass no-glare screen protector on the unit before ever using it. Could this be causing the internal GPS issues finding satellites?

The GPS is in the top of the cabinet so a screen protector should have no effect on GPS reception  ...

You can call HB but I’m sure they will have you first update the software before sending it in  ...
