I've just acquired an Helix 7 Humminbird SI. I have an existing Garmin GPS. I was hoping to be able to position it for use of forward fishing person. My question is can I put the transducer beside the existing one and not experience any interference. I understand that I will need to ensure that the SI transducer has clear sight lines left and right. The Garmin transducer would be placed to right and above line of sight. I will be using a mounting plate for the transducers.

If the units are operating on the same frequencies you will get crosstalk interference.

Thanks Bob, I was hoping to avoid putting a transducer on the trolling motor, I had a clutzy friend break a transducer wire previously while putting the motor into the water. The frequencies that you mention are they the ones that you set for down imaging? I wasn't planning on using garmin for gps applications. I could even remove the chip from the garmin.

GPS is no concern since it is only a receiver .... It is the 200 and 455 Khz sonar frequencies that will be a problem if both units are using them..... I don't know what the frequency selection options are on your Garmin.

Thanks again Bob, that is what I was hoping I can ensure that the frequencies are different.
