I’m not Mark but the sonar from a 385ci unit’s transducer can work through the hull of some plastic boats such as the Ocean Kayak.

hi greg thanks for that i have akayak the it is a velocity2 made buy winner what sort of plastic will it go through please i do like the ocean kayak but bit rich for me the trident 13 with the sounder shield on it

I’m not sure what all types of plastic a sonar signal will go through jimmy. According to the Ocean Kayak web site, they are made out of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). You may just have to buy a sonar unit and test it inside the hull of your kayak to know for sure or find someone else with that hull material who has one mounted inside of it.

I think that you will still just have to try it to find out of it will work Paul. I don’t have any way of knowing of it will work or not, nor does anyone else who has not tried it yet.
