2 998c SI + ipilot - ducers and ethernet...
« on: March 04, 2014, 12:10:41 PM »
I've read some past posts but I want to make sure I've got this straight - looking for input:

Setup:  Rigging together a 998c SI at the aft trolling console and one on the bow.

To use ipilot along with these and still sharing sonar, will ethernet suffice or do I need interlink in this case?
Just verifying: interlink and ethernet don't work at the same time (ethernet disables interlink).
Setting up the bow unit with the bow mount sonar, with ethernet they can still share sonar? (given the correct cables)? (just not SI)
Am I missing anything (aside from not listing the cables needed)?

Thanks

To use the i-Pilot you will have to use Ethernet connections.
Ethernet and the InterLink will not both work at the same time – Ethernet will disable the InterLink.
The i-Pilot cannot be linked to or controlled by a Humminbird unit.  the i-Pilot Link can.
To be able to connect the i-Pilot Link and both 998c Si units you will also have to get one of the AS-ETH-5PS or the newer AS-ETH-5PXG 5 port Ethernet Switches.  You will also need the appropriate length AS-EC-XXE (where “XX” = the cable length) cables for the units to the Ethernet Switch.
Once set up you can share all sonar between the two 998c Si units.

You can share a GPS Receiver through the Ethernet connection but your waypoints will be more accurate if each unit has its own GPS Receiver mounted as close to directly over the transducer that it (mainly) uses.
