Title: Where to mount on Lund Crossover
Post by: Tjo on May 22, 2017, 12:32:04 PM
Hi All, couple of questions.

1.  I have a 1875 Lund Crossover and I currently have a 899 mounted in the cockpit.  I want to add a Helix 10 and keep the 899 as well. Any other Lund boat guys with dual mounting? Would like to see pictures or suggestion on mounting both units.

2. Should I mount both transducers or just use the one that comes with my Helix 10. If both anyone have a picture of there install? I have two different transducer for the 899 currently mounted XNT 9 SI 180T and a XHS 9 HSST 180T still in the box.

3. I'm already networked with Pilot link, 899 bow mount and 899 cockpit mounted with network switch. I'm assuming I will only need one cable to link the helix to the switch?

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers TJ

There will most likely be crosstalk interference because HB units transit 200kHz all the time for digital depth  ...

Each Setup is different and how much crosstalk interference you see with both units transmitting cannot be known without mounting and testing on the water  ...

There is a "Noise Filter" setting under the Sonar tab that can help with interference  ... but how much interference this setting can filter out is also specific to each install  ...

If the HELIX is also a SI unit - it is a challenge to mount both xducers on the transom without physical blockage of the SI pulse from the other SI xducer (the SI beams reach all the way to the water's surface on both sides of the xducer)  ...

Mounting SI xducers on opposite sides of transom can minimize physical blockage of the SI Beam somewhat  ...

If the transom is stepped - a better option for 2 SI xducers is to mount 1 on the lower step and 1 on the upper step to effectively have 1 SI xducer "in front of" the other  ...

The 899 and HELIX will also need the AS EC QDE Ethernet adapter cable  ...

raving, thank you for the info. I haven't purchased the Helix yet and I wake up today and they are on sale. Guess they are telling me something :). I do have a follow up question.

Can I turn off the SI on the XNT 9 SI 180T?

Absolutely  ... Changing the "Connected Transducer" selection (under the Sonar tab) to Dual Beam shuts off the SI transmitters  ...

Well decided to move my 899 up on the bow with the other one and use just the Helix 10 on driver console. Will use one for DI and one for SI on the bow.

Cheers Tom
