This has been the same problem for all the times. This is the note I wrote that was stuck to each unit, this last time I sent them:
"The 3 PRESET Keys buttons are sticking>>>when I have the 3 PRESET Keys views set up to what I need, and I want to go from one view on PRESET Keys button to another view set up on the PRESET Keys button, the unit will not go to that next view but instead it will act like I am trying to hold down the button and set a new preset screen."

I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

It sounds strange.
So, you just touch each button, and let them go quickly, and all of them stick?
Quickly to you may not be quickly to hummingbird customer service.

I would call the customer service department, and explain the problem to them, and that you've
sent in two units, three times each.
Maybe they can walk you through some tests while on the phone.
Good luck.

Been there, done that. I was hoping that someone knew of a particular person in the tech dept I could ask for, and talk with.

I'm sure that if you explain to whomever you get on the phone, that you are extremely frustrated with the situation, and want some advice, that they would help you out. Ask for their help, and be nice and polite, and it should go a long way.

I'm positive that Humminbird does not want unhappy customers.
If you are the type to accuse people, yell or scream, then I wouldn't even bother to make the call.

It's just about courtesy.
I don't know you, and I don't know how you talk to people.
Just giving some friendly advice.
Be nice, and people will be more willing to do things for you.
I'm not saying that you are not nice.
I don't know you from Adam, so I don't know if you are nice or not.

I have seen this same preset key anomaly in a 898 my cousin used to have ...

I seem to remember reverting the software to 6.490 may have fixed that issue ...
(6.490 is more stable with 898s and 998s anyway) ...
