Title: 1158c depth and 83hz went out in middle of lake
Post by: Muskyslayer96 on August 25, 2013, 08:05:28 AM
Hey fellas,

I have used this forum in the past for my 797Si and have received great help. I hope someone can answer my question regarding my 1158c that is connected via interlink to my 797Si.
I got out to the middle of the lake yesterday morning and the screen on my 1158c looked very weird. i usually have it on 83/200 hz and it was almost all white with thin broken up view of the bottom. I thought it might be covered with weeds but it was clear. when I was messing with it I could feel/hear it pulsing like my US2 does when out of the water. The bracket was a little loose but I started to lightly tap on it and that is when the depth went out on it as well! the depth would go in and out. My 797Si was fine (it uses the US2 on my Minnkota)

PLEASE HELP...its the second week in a row I've had boat issues and was not able to fish and the summer is flying by.

Thanks in advance for any help!

MS

Depth comes only from the 200khz signal even if only displaying 83khz.

I would first make sure all the sonar hardware is solidly mounted, no damage to any transducer cables, that the cable head(pins) are attached solidly to your head-unit and etc. . .

Then I would do a Restore Defaults.

Do all your testing and debugging with only the 1158 running.

What software level are you running?

Thanks

Try testing your 1158c unit on your 797’s transducer and your 797 on your 1158c’s transducer (don’t connect the GPS, just the power and transducer) and see what is working and what isn’t.
