899, Do I need to send it back to Humminbird for repair or am I doing something

(1/2) > >>

FishinLite:
I bought this unit a little more than a year ago.

I finally got it on my boat this summer and the unit has less than 10 hours on it.

I initially installed it with a compact transducer and then replaced the transducer with a HD transducer thinking that my compact transducer  had problem.

But the image looks the same with both transducers.

Is this a setup problem or a head unit problem?

rnvinc:
This looks like a possible blockage issue  ...

Is there something mounted to the left of the SI xducer that could be blocking the left SI beam  ...??

Lower unit? Another xducer? Ladder? Sponson?

The SI beam reaches from the water's surface to past vertical under the boat  ...

FishinLite:
I don't believe that it is a blockage issue.

Here is the back of the boat with the compact transducer mounted.

Here is a side view of the boat on the trailer. The image of the missing left view above is with the motor trimmed up like it sits on the trailer.
But it makes no difference up or down. That was my first thought.

Bob B:
It could be the motor blocking the left side .... have you tried trimming it up to see if it makes a difference.

rnvinc:
You might try temporarily mounting the xducer to a pole and stick it way down in the water for testing  ...

If the issue persists, then testing your head unit on another boat or another head unit on your xducer would be the next best troubleshooting step  ...
