Title: upgrading from 997cSI to 1198cSI question
Post by: nirvana996 on March 09, 2013, 02:22:40 PM
I currently have a 997cSI. Been very happy with it. Came with my dive boat when I bought it.
Would like to get a larger screen and was thinking about the 1198cSI.

Is the wiring and transducer compatible with both units? Can I just switch out the displays without doing any new wiring?

Thanks
Andy

Should hook right up to the 1198.....you will have to change out the cable collector.

and the unit mount (gimbal).

Depending on when the 997c Si unit was made you may want to swap out the power cable and the GPS Receiver.
The power cable has been changed to one that has a built-in noise filter (choke) in it.
The 997 may be using the older GR16 GPS Receiver.  The 1198c Si should have come with either the GR50 or GRP GPS Receiver which will work a bit better than the GR16 will.
