1197 c si & Cock pit ...@ Bow ??
« on: March 09, 2014, 01:32:04 PM »
I currently have a 1197c si..( love this unit)
But I have a older lowerance on the bow.
So I was wanting to keep the 1197 and put a unit up front and ethernet them..
So what would be my best options..
Was looking @ a 998 or a 1198 since they have the same ethernet connections as my 1197.
I would like to use unit for DI , but would also like to be able to switch to the back transducer for SI every so often..
I guess my real question is can I go to a 1198 & 998 c si HD . I am thinking that the HD requires a different transducer correct ? So if I had a 1198 or 998 HD on the front I could not switch to the 1197 si transducer in the back correct ?
I am just thinking that the si transducer up front would be hard to get use to on a trolling motor.

Either unit will be fine sharing the transom transducer......As long as the bow and console are the same technology.....in this case SI....You can share the transducer.

If you can swing it, at 1198 would be nice at the bow.....The size of the unit is more important there since you are standing and farther away from it than the bow....You will also have a brighter screen on the 1198 or 998HD.....or the newer 1199 / 999.
Think I'd go 1199.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

So if I was to purchase a 1198 c si HD or 998 c si HD for the bow..
Ether one of this would still beable to use my 1197 c si transducer..
I was just wondering since the transducer on the transom is a older model...

So looks like I will see if I can find
1198c si HD or a 998 c si HD..

Thanks for the info..

The 1197, 1198, and 998 use the very same xducer..

The "HD" was added to the 998c HD SI Combo to indicate LED backlight screen...(2013 I think)...

There is no "HD" moniker in any of the 1198's...the "HD" moniker was not added to the 1100 series units until the 2014 model 1199ci HD SI Combo...

*Power on the unit...
*Press the "Menu" button when the Welcome splash screen shows...
*Of the 3 options showing in the popup window...choose "System Status"...
