Just wondering if anyone has used their 999 for ice fishing? Any advice would be appreciated.

I run my 998 in the winter. It is nice little unit. I run the XI 9 20 iceducer and set the transducer mode to dual beam. I am usually in the tent so I drill a separate hole for the ducer which keeps tangles down to almost never and I don't have to keep pulling the transducer. The unit eats a lot of battery so I run Iron- phosphate batteries which cost a little more but are much lighter and last a lot longer than Sealed Lead Acid batteries.

That looks awesome. So a 12v 9AH batery wouldnt run the unit?

That 9Ah battery will run it for about 7.5 hours (new, it will get worse after repeated charges), which would be plenty I suppose for normal folks. I will sometimes fish 10-12 or more hours a day. That is where a 15Ah battery comes in very handy.
