Helix 12 and 360
« on: September 07, 2016, 01:09:58 PM »
I purchased the Helix 12.  According to Humminbird it is 360 compatible.  I can't see where it has an ethernet connection.  Is there an adapter cable for this?  Mark

I figured it out.  I have an adapter cable coming.  AS EC QDE | Networking | 720074-1 is needed to make it work.

Wow you SI quality is amazing!  Is this due to HD transducer, 800khz, or both??  I have Helix 7 and its no where near this clear.

All of the screen shots are 455 khz in Side scan.  In the 360 one of the shots is 800 khz.  The you tube video (which isn't nearly as clear as it is in humviewer, it's dark in the video) is half 800 khz and the rest 455 khz.  The HD transducer is standard as it was for my 898 and 997.  That was the initial run of the Helix.

Tomorrow evening I will be in Kentucky and will see how it does in 160-170 ffw.  The Helix is showing me things that were not displayed on my 997.  With my 997 I could find a 3" x 36" pine log in 10' of water.  I can imagine what the Helix will do for smaller objects.  Mark

Spd 135 ..... Have you tried Deepview FV?  The images are a little sharper, but doesn't display all the info.

You have to convert the recording to a .xtf file  .... You can get the converter here ... http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?action=downloads;cat=11
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

I haven't used Deepview.  I do have the option of hiding the GPS data but on this it was not important.  In HV the recording is much more clear.  When it makes a movie it gets darker.  I do use Sonar TRX and Reefmaster along with Humviewer.

Thanks. How far below surface do you run TD? I'm assuming the way you have it mounted,  there is no reflection from transom or bottom of boat is why your getting such great screenshots.

I'm running it about 3-4 feet and at the front of the boat you avoid a lot of issues.  Look at the boat line and you will see my pontoons next to it.  But it is a small line.

Today I got some good images here in Kentucky and some good 360 images.  I have the 360 hanging at 120'.  I'll post some.

Hey Eric!

How goes it??

HB 360 only supports 455KHz, I am hoping they will come out with an 800KHz unit though.

455KHz has a wider beam, more penetration and more coverage.

I use 800 KHz when I want the sharpest resolution I can get and need to go in for a closer look; the 1280 X 800 pixel resolution is far and away better than the 800 X 480 offered on the lower res. models.

My 1199 is 800 X 600 and the Helix12's blow it away nicely.

I just sold one of my 999's because I liked my Helix 12DI so much, now a H12SI has joined the fray......

:D
