It was a good movie. But now it looks like the real thing is about to hit. This thing is huge......
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/sohemi/sohemiloops/shirgmscol.html (http://www.goes.noaa.gov/sohemi/sohemiloops/shirgmscol.html) They are saying that its the biggest system to hit Australia. Compare it with the one that has just crossed the coast

Holy smoke!
I keep my fingers crossed that it will not be as bad as looks.
Best wishes from the North / Harry

Allways the chance that it will change course{ And they do quite often } but not its strength Over warm water{ Coral Sea } they gain strength. When they hit land they weaken and turn into a monsoon trough {Lots of rain } l remember the last cyclone l was in a few years back it was so strange The rain and wind blew quite hard. Then bright sunshine blue Sky's. People came out to look at what damage they had got. They laughed and said that was not too bad .The eye as they call it was over us .Then the sky turned black and the wind and rain came from the other direction worse than before. lots of people lost there lives because they thought the worst was over...Natures fury at it worst .To me the noise is the worst part. its like a screaming jet engine and there is no escape from it Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi at 4:00 pm EST:

Thanks Robert
l have been tracking this cyclone for days and l have been getting my updates from a place called Willis island { Google } They built this weather station there to monitor these events like a advanced warning station l was built to withstand the strongest storm events. As the cyclone got closer to the island you could see the wind speed build 140 kph, 160 183.....Then nothing ..... gone This thing is going to hit land at about 10oclock tonight and is billed as the biggest cyclone ever to hit Australia .There will be mass destruction from the wind And the storm surge is going to be up two meters higher than the biggest king tide. This wall of water will inundate many homes.....

Holy cow!!!
There were some short reports here in Germany showing footage when the storm hit the land, but nothing like the pictures you linked!
I guess the insurance companies will go ape when the bills from the ship yards are coming to their offices for compensation......
Good that no one was killed!
Regards / Harry

Most insurance companies dont insure for acts of nature. I hope this is not true for this event....
You guys will need all the help you can get.
You guys who are not in Australia......dont forget your prayers for them....
