Title: 898c SI Power Cables PC-11 vs PC-12
Post by: chrisfisher on March 07, 2014, 06:44:55 PM
Hey,

So I'm a little confused here. Humminbird makes a power cable for this unit. BUT for whatever reason the supported models are different on their website as to what is listed on the retail packaging of the cable in the stores...

Does anyone know if PC-11 is compatible with 898C si? according to their website it is. But according to the package 700, 900, 1100 series.. The packaging of PC-10 also contradicts the website..

I'm assuming that PC-10 OR PC-11 will work. PC-11 is a filtered cable and I'm guessing this filter is for electrical noise.
I did purchase a PC-11 due to the information provided on the website but when I see the packaging for supported models and mine wasn't listed I was afraid to open it and test it. I did call today but the person I talked to had no idea at the time and was suppose to call me back but now they are closed.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

BTW: When I was at Cabela's Canada store the display model sonar used a PC-11 but when I asked if they had this.. They said they don't even carry this power cable only the PC-10. Which I though was kind of funny.....

Either one will work with your 898 ...

The PC 11 just has the added choke for RF...

The PC-11 does have an in-line ferrite (electrical noise choke) but it also has a heavier gauge wire (18 AWG versus 22 AWG in the PC-10) and therefore can carry more current at a lower voltage.  The PC-10 may work fine most of the time but if the battery voltage gets low it may not be able to carry enough current to power the 898 unit.
