Title: 798 Loading Message
Post by: crappiefarmer on March 26, 2012, 10:00:11 PM
I have about a dozen waypoints on my SD card in my 798. when I put the card in, I am getting this message "No new nav data found. Not enough memory to load all nav data." OK, I understand the first part but why is it telling me I don't have enough memory when My 8GB card only has a dozen waypoints on it? Is something wrong? Thanks for any help.CF

You have a corrupt waypoint. Load them up from humminbirdpc and check them over.

Got any idea what to look for to identify the corrupted waypoint?CF

First,
Look for duplicate names.

Then look to see if any coordinates look really different from the others.
Also coordinates that are truncated or cut short.

Or dates for the waypoints that are way off.

Where did you get these waypoints CF?  Are they from HumminbirdPC or some other program

That “not enough memory” message is referring to the unit and not the memory card you were using.  I think that this is a bug in the software though as people report that the waypoints loaded anyways (and got the message that XX number of waypoints loaded).

thanks for the reply HBG. I marked most of the way points on Humviewer. Then transfered them over to HumminbirdPC. I had earlier on had a recording on the card but took it off and stored on HBPC. I was trying to see if that would make a difference but it did not. All that is on there now is the waypoints. Everything was loading fine. Have not had any problems. I just keep getting the message. Is this going to be a problem if it continues? I have not updated My unit yet since I got it. Will the software update help with this? I figured I would update it after I got everything like I need it and have learned how to use everything and then update it. Trying to take it step by step and not over complicate things.CF

Thanks for the quick reply. I looked today and the dates looked OK except for two that I had hit mark on in the simulator. I deleted those and then tried it again but still getting message. Coordinates seem to be ok but I will investigate into them a little more tomorrow. Thanks again for the help.CF

Should have been more clear when I was describing it. This is exactly what mine is doing. It is loading everything fine onto the unit from the SD card but I am still getting the memory message. Will it be a problem to continue to run it like this? Everything else seems to be fine. Thanks.CF

CF,
I have not officially heard that it is a software bug but think it is.  Therefore it should get fixed in a future software release.  I don’t think that there is anything to be concerned about as long as the waypoints load into the unit.
