I just purchased the XM receiver for my 1198 and 998 and have not found XM listed in any of the product literature as a feature that will be viewable in either unit... will it or won't it or will it in the future when hummingbird unlocks additional capabilities.

I think the units can use it and share the info between them.
To be sure, look on the HB site under accessories for your units.
Once you plug in the XM module, you'll will probably get additional menu items on your unit(s).

XM weather is something that is leased and not bought.
I think it's a one time startup fee of $14.95, plus $9.95 a month.
I also think it's only for inland waters.
I read where you can just pay for months that you intend to use it.

I am thinking about getting it myself, but the never ending monthly charge turns me off.

The data from our XM Nav Weather module cannot be shared between units by InterLink or Ethernet.
I do not know if it will be able to be shared over the Ethernet connection with future software updates or not.

[Updated: I incorrectly posted that the XM Weather could be shared via the InterLink.  I was wrong as it is the WeatherSense Fishing Barometer that can have its data shared through the InterLink.]

Right now the data from our XM Nav Weather module can only be shared between units via the InterLink.  I do not know, and could not say if I did know, if it will be able to be shared over the Ethernet connection.

Right now I have XM Weather on the end of the daisy chain on my 997. It is Interlinked with my 858 but only the 997 shows the XM Weather data. What do I need to change to be able to see data on both units?

Yes I know it's an older thread but it does bear reason for new discussion. Sharing the weather data over the ethernet connection is optimum simplicity. And a money saving one that reduces clutter. And connection points, there by increasing reliability. Which would further enhance Humminbird as a leader and make Radar more affordable, all the while boosting sales:) If it's after all programably possible.

Sorry Panman but I must have had a brain fart that day…  :-[
 - XM Weather cannot be shared in any form at this time.
 - The WeatherSense Fishing Barometer data can be shared but only over the InterLink.  I’ll go back and modify my previous post.

I am not sure that it is programably (is that a word?) possible or not, but it would make a good feature.  Could you make sure that this is on the Wish List please Gattlin?
