HB already offers CHIRP with the ION and SM module ...
http://www.humminbird.com/Category/Technology/CHIRP/

Time will tell (maybe iCast?) if HB comes out with a more moderately priced CHIRP to compete with the others out there ...

I started a thread about "cheap chirp" on another forum a while back .......From the response I got from HB pro staff I don't think they are going to be implementing it any time soon ..... Could be wrong though.

As Rickie says .... HB offers what they call "true chirp" for the Onix and Ion, which is  pretty expensive to set up.

And it's not really worth it on their low end Elite units. While you can see individual fish better than with a pulse tone transducer, I found that you loose much of the ability to discriminant the type of bottom. Of course, the Elite, like the lower end Raymarine units, don't have full CHIRP functionality.

IMO, CHIRP is overkill unless you are fishing offshore in very deep water.

Lowrance is garbage. They will tell you anything if it will get you to buy from them. For true chirp, I would look at the Garmin line.

GARMin have been the first to sell CHirp sonar at "low cost" using the TM150 far to be a good transducer, and sell too chirp box that can use real Chirp transducer as TM265 or TM275 as do Humminbird with ONIX and ION:
Here a picture with my Chirp ONIX It is a jig with 5 hook and  a swivel (soory for my English I'm french!!)

here little calmar (20cm)

Here a wreck with out any fisch water colonn is clear!

the chirp on my garmin 7612xsv is awesome.  its much easier to see fish in brush, but where it really shines is seeing fish that are belly to the bottom

Yes, but don't use same tranducer TM150 is less quality than an TM265, after it depend of use, in fresh water and not deep maybe not use to spend too much money!
